Multiphase Flows and Combustion
Head: Prof. Dr. Eva Gutheil
Multiphase flows and combustion processes are vital to many application areas. Technical
combustion systems such as internal
engine combustion, industrial furnaces, and gas turbine combustion are relevant to enhance energy production.
The modeling and simulation of these processes are essential to
properly predict efficiency, stability, safety, and pollutant emission in these
systems. Multiphase flows also occur in spray drying processes, in atmospheric processes such as the ozone depletion and in biofluid mechanical processes such as the particle dispersion and deposition in the human airways or in the blood flow in cerebral aneurysms.
The modeling and simulation of these complex flows are addressed in the research group.
